Robby Kaufman

Dear Puget Sound Speedskating Club Families,

If you have ever wondered why our first competition of every season is named the “ROBBY KAUFMAN Short Track Challenge,” it is to remember a man – and a family – who earned our lasting gratitude for their contributions to Puget Sound ice sports.

The Kaufman family has devoted their lives to the Puget Sound skating community by building, operating, and maintaining a space and venue for all ice sports – hockey, figure skating, and speedskating.  For over three decades, the Kaufmans have prioritized affordable ice time for young skaters over profits.  Many of our nation’s top skaters got their start in facilities provided by the Kaufman family.

On December 31, 2021, we lost a father, a son, and a friend.  By remembering Robby, we honor the contributions he and his family made to our community.  By donating to his family, we show our appreciation.  Please consider sending a contribution using the same method you used to pay for your competition entry (PayPal: Loebotomy@gmail.com, Venmo: @Mark-Soldan, Zelle: 510-551-5087) or by giving cash or check to any of our board members listed here: https://pugetsoundspeedskating.com/members-coach/

I hope that every skater and family has a safe and wonderful experience at the 2025 Puget Sound ROBBY KAUFMAN Short Track Challenge and a wonderful holiday season.

If you have ever wondered whose hockey sticks you walk by every day by our front door, those are Robby’s.
